The camp for those who want that extra bit of luxury. We’ve kept Governors’ IL Moran Camp small and intimate, with added touches that make this the top of the range safari. IL Moran is widely regarded as the premiere camp in the Masai Mara.
Hidden under ancient trees, deep in the forest, are just 10 tents. They line the winding banks of the Mara River. You’ll be the personal guest of our manager, who’ll look after all your needs.
The camp is situated along the banks of the Mara River, right in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, with the best game viewing right on your doorstep. Governors Il Moran Camp has been awarded a Silver Eco Rating by Eco Tourism Kenya for our environmental practices both in camp and with our neighbourng community.
Room
Governors’ IL Moran Camp has ten vast, luxurious tents that feature super ‘king size’ beds fashioned from ancient fallen olive trees, and Victorian style baths. During the day, meals are served on the banks of the Mara River under the giant evergreen trees. Dinner is served by candlelight in the open dining tent or alfresco by the river. IL Moran is an ideal camp for honeymooners and couples who are looking for a very special safari experience.

Each tent has a super king-sized bed that is constructed from fallen olive trees. In the en suite bathroom, you'll find double basins, a shower with hot and cold running water as well as a classic, Victorian bathtub.

Dining
After returning from your morning game drive or hot-air balloon safari, you can look forward to a delicious hot and cold breakfast spread on the banks of the Mara River, naturally accompanied by freshly-brewed Kenyan coffee. Lunches are also served on the river banks and include delicious salads, meat dishes, and a variety of desserts. In the evening, you can either dine in the open dining tent by candlelight, or enjoy an alfresco meal outside. If you feel like enjoying a particularly romantic evening, you can request for a bush dinner to be set up in one of the scenic spots around camp. Here you can tuck into the same delicious meals, but with a private waiter and without being disturbed by anything except the sounds of the wilderness around you.

All the Governors' Camp Collection properties are located inside the Masai Mara National Reserve in the heart of one of the best wildlife viewing areas, which means you won't waste time getting to the action. All our guides are highly trained, enthusiastic experts who know this area of the Masai Mara and its wildlife like their home. Governors Camp Collection offers Hot Air Balloon Safaris over the Mara River, plains and forests of the Masai Mara. The adventure begins just before dawn. Departure is from a perfect natural launch site behind Little Governors’ Camp, and flames from the hot air balloon burners light the darkness as the crews inflate their craft. The first, pink tongues of sunlight flicker across the skies as the hot air balloon fills, then rises. Suspended in a basket beneath the rainbow-coloured canopy, you’re off for a wildlife viewing adventure with an entirely different perspective.
